Apart from this, the District High School is having three High Schools and two middle schools under it. District School was established in the year 1934 on November 1st by the state commissioner of education and previously Balam America Central District High School was named the CHSD. Letter till the 3rd May 1973 it was adopted with the current name in geographic location.

In September 1935 approximately 150 new students entered the higher school for studying with five faculty members in the six-room Schoolhouse. In the year 1954, two new high schools were opened which comes under the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School district which was named Jerusalem Avenue Junior High School and Merrick Avenue Junior High School.

Later in the year 1958, a new Sanford H Calhoun High School along with the Grand Avenue Junior High School gets open. By 1966 there were around 10900 students in the Bellmore Merrick Central High School district and in the current time this district school is serving around 6100 students.
