Hernando County Schools Calendar -The Hernando County School Board is the governing body for the Hernando County School District. The district includes all of Hernando County, Florida. The school board sets policy for the district, approves the district budget, and hires the superintendent. The current calendar has students starting class on August 7 and ending on May 31.

About Hernando County schools
Hernando County schools will be closed for the holidays from December 23, 2023, through January 3, 2024. Students will return to school on January 6, 2024.
This extended winter break will give students and families plenty of time to enjoy the holidays and spend time together. It also gives teachers and staff a much-needed break after a busy first semester.
